After the Saddlers made it to the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final the singer, also known as the 'Greek Entertainer', dug out the original chorus and added the verses that have so far attracted more than 500 likes on YouTube.

Nicos, who once introduced young players to the cub including former player Richard Tawndry, says he is over the moon the side will play Bristol City at Wembley on March 22.

"I wrote the chorus a few years ago when they started selling them at the Banks's stadium. To be honest I put it away in a drawer, but when they got through to the semi-finals I thought if they score a goal it would be nice dig out that song about the balti pies.

"It's just a bit of fun, something positive to sing about on the terraces and it will be nice and light-hearted for the children to sing about pies I think," Nicos, of Streetly, says.

Also a qualified coach he helped to run the Colron FC junior teams based in Streetly until a decade ago.

"Football's in the blood. I've been a Saddlers fan for a long time. I wrote the song for a laugh, but I'm pleased that people like it. My son Matthew, 26, recorded it," he adds.
