Councillor Phil Bateman, who represents Wednesfield North, also thanked a member of the public who has given evidence to the police.

He said: "I have received reassurance from West Midlands Police that all that can be done is being done with regards to the recent arson attacks.

"The police team are working together with the local CID and fire investigation team and are completing all the necessary inquiries.

"At this stage, they don't have any definitive evidence to suggest that the incidents at St Alban's school and Charter Care are linked, however it is understandable that the community are concerned due to the close time proximity of the two incidents.

"I also want to thank one community member that has come forward and given the police evidence.

"I know that this person's witness statement has been very valuable.

"If you do know any information about either of these two crimes, please contact the police or failing that myself and I will pass the information on."

Pupils will go back to St Albans school on February 23 after an arson attack took place on February 5.

Charter Care was burned down three days later.
