Men appear in court over Oldbury student's bus stop death
Two men have appeared in court charged with causing death by dangerous driving of a student from Oldbury.
Rebecca McManus, aged 21, was killed at a bus stop on Hagley Road West, Bearwood, when it was struck by a car earlier this year.
Inderjit Singh and Sukvinder Mannan appeared before Sandwell Magistrates Court yesterday in connection with her death.
Both have been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury through dangerous driving.
Singh 29, of Cranbourne Avenue, Ettingshall, Wolverhampton, is also accused of being the driver of a vehicle that failed to stop after a road accident.
Mannan, 32, of Roundhills Road, Halesowen, is separately charged with failing to provide a blood sample following the crash for analysis.
Proceedings were adjourned and the men will next appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on February 24.
Miss McManus had attended King Edward VI College in Stourbridge, before enrolling at the University of East Anglia in Norwich for an English literature with creative writing degree course.
Tributes were paid by teachers, friends and fellow students following her death. Her death was described as an 'irreplaceable loss' by staff at the University of East Anglia.
