Probe over death of bus passenger outside Wolverhampton police station
An investigation has been launched into the police's handling of a bus passenger who died outside a police station in Wolverhampton.
It is alleged officers at the main Bilston Street station took at least 20 minutes to respond to calls from the bus driver concerned that the passenger had collapsed, despite being parked right outside.
A 28 year old man later died on the number one Dudley to Tettenhall service on Friday evening.
The Independence Police Complaints Commission confirmed that the case had been referred to them.
A spokesman said: "The IPCC has received a referral from West Midlands Police regarding an incident where a man died in Wolverhampton. We are currently making an assessment to determine the level, if any, of IPCC involvement."
