Marantomark Group Ltd wants to create a three-storey apartment block on land currently used as a pay-and-display car park on Wolverhampton Road, Wednesfield.

Should the proposals get the green light it will create 60 full times jobs and be built opposite New Cross Hospital.

The plans state the apartment would be occupied by former residents of the medium secure unit who can be offered support as they return to the community.

Its aim is to provide 'independent hospital care' for people with mental health disorders and help as part of their rehabilitation.

Ten letters of rejection were received by the council from people raising issues over the loss of parking around the hospital.

A decision will be made by the city council's planning committee tomorrow.
