Spitting thug threatened to 'smash' policewoman's face
A prolific criminal threatened to 'smash' a police woman in the face and spat at other officers, Wolverhampton Crown Court heard.
The confrontation with Jason Lowe happened outside the home of his former partner, explained Mr Mark Rees, prosecuting.
The 38-year-old, who had 32 previous convictions involving 89 separate offences, repeatedly broke a non-molestation order banning him from contacting the 33-year-old woman, it was said on Tuesday.
He bumped into her in the street on May 29 and threw a hot cup of coffee over her after the pair returned to her Halesowen flat together, continued Mr Rees.
Then on June 12 he arrived outside the address shouting abuse and calling her unpleasant names, the court was told.
Mr Rees continued: "His breath smelt of drink and he might have taken drugs. When police arrived he became aggressive and told one woman officer: 'I will smash you in the face if you come near me.'
"He was clenching his fists and gritting his teeth and appeared to be about to throw a punch at her."
Officers pulled out Tasers but did not need to use them during his arrest. He was found to be in possession of a small amount of cannabis.
Lowe spat so much at officers during the drive to the local police station for questioning that the vehicle needed a £120 professional clean, concluded Mr Rees.
Mr Lewis Perry, defending, said: "This is a man who has clearly had problems with drugs and his mental state of mind in recent years. He has been addicted to drugs and this has impacted on his mind."
Lowe from Clancy Way, Halesowen admitted criminal damage, possession of cannabis, threatening words and behaviour and two breaches of the molestation order.
He was given a seven month prison sentence suspended under supervision for two years with a three month night time curfew.
Recorder Marcus Tregilgas-Davey told him: "What you need is help and assistance, especially from mental health support workers."
