'A wonderful person with a beautiful smile' Tributes to Dudley crash victim
Tributes were today paid to a cyclist who died in crash in Upper Gornal by friends who described her as a 'wonderful person' known for her 'beautiful smile'.
Paramedics tried to save the 50-year-old mother-of one but nothing could be done.
Mrs Rowson's devastated colleagues at Greenway House Residential Home, Springhill Lane, Lower Penn, where she has worked for the past 14 years.
Elaine Hartland, deputy manager at the care home, said: "We are all in a state of shock. Lorraine was the nicest person you could meet. She was kind and loving, which were qualities that came out in her work here.
"We are a small community with only 12 residents, so people get to know each other very well. She will be missed by everyone."
Mrs Hartland said Mrs Rowson was an animal lover who was known for taking in unwell dogs and nursing them back to good health.
She is survived by her husband and daughter, a 21-year-old university student.
Mrs Hartland added: "She was a very outgoing person, who was completely devoted to her family."
Police are continuing to investigate the incident which happened at around 11.40am and led to four neighbouring roads being closed off around the scene.
Parts of Burton Road, Eve Lane, Jew's Lane and Kent Street, were all sealed off.
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Steve Parry said an ambulance and a paramedic arrived shortly after the accident.
"Sadly, it quickly became apparent to crews that nothing could be done to save the cyclist involved," he said.
"She was confirmed dead at the scene. The lorry driver was assessed by ambulance staff, but did not require further hospital treatment."
