Man dies after being hit by lorry in Kidderminster

A man has died after being hit by a lorry in Kidderminster today.

Emergency services were called to A448 Stone Hill at around 8.20am following a collision between a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) and a pedestrian.

The Midlands Air Ambulance also attended the scene.

Despite the best efforts by paramedics, the man was confirmed dead at the scene.

An investigation has been launched into the collision.

The A448 was closed both directions from the roundabout in Spennells, through Stone Hill, to the Mustow Green roundabout.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a collision between a HGV and a pedestrian on Stone Hill at 8.22am on Wednesday, we sent three ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford to the scene.

"On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was the pedestrian. He was in a critical condition and ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support.

"Sadly, despite their best efforts it became apparent nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene."

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: "At around 9am on Wednesday morning we received reports of a serious collision on the A448 near Kidderminster involving a pedestrian and an HGV. Sadly a person has died at the scene.

"The road was closed while officers attended the incident and an investigation is under way."
