Man arrested on suspicion of firearms offences after Kidderminster incident
A 52-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences after a Kidderminster road was shut by police for a number of hours.
Officers from West Mercia Police had closed Park Street on Tuesday as police dealt with an incident "involving concern for a man's safety".
Police were called to an address within Park Court at around 3am where a man was threatening to harm himself.
No one else was believed to be in the building with him and surrounding properties were evacuated as a precaution, a spokesman from West Mercia Police confirmed.
A 52-year-old man was arrested this afternoon on suspicion of firearms offences.
A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "Police attending an incident in Park Street have arrested a 52 year old man on suspicion of firearms offences.
"We anticipate he will be taken to hospital by ambulance as a precautionary measure.
"Officers remain on the scene but hope to soon allow neighbouring residents into their properties and re-open the road."
