Man racially abused woman on train near Kidderminster

A man racially abused a woman on a train and then made a 'strangling gesture' towards her.

Police have launched an appeal in the wake of the racially aggravated public order offence on board the train between Kidderminster and Worcester Foregate Street.

The incident happened on Thursday, June 8 after the victim boarded the service at Kidderminster at 7.20pm.

Police said a man in the same carriage subsequently stood up and began racially abusing the woman. He then made a strangling gesture towards her.

Officers have arrested a 33-year-old man from Worcester on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence.

The man was also arrested for carrying a lock knife and a Class B drug. He has been released pending further investigation.

British Transport Police have said they would like to speak to anyone who was travelling on the service at the time and witnessed the incident to come forward.
