Nearby roads were cordoned off as a result of the incident on Moathouse Lane West

These are the words of a resident of Moathouse Lane West, Wednesfield, which was flooded with armed police at around 1pm on Friday at the start of a day-long siege.

Police say a man had barricaded himself into a property on the road, with specialist firearms officers called and nearby roads cordoned off.

The siege was brought to an end at around 12.35pm on Saturday when a 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of threats to kill.

The safe conclusion of the incident is likely to have been a relief for many, with some residents claiming on Saturday morning that they had been unable to access their homes since the previous afternoon.
