Tributes to lifelong Wolves fan and ice cream business owner
The family of a former city magistrate and owner of a popular ice cream business have paid tribute to him after his death.
Alan William Leo was born in Southwold in Suffolk in 1947, before moving to Wolverhampton with his father William and mother Edna at a young age.
He studied at Woden Avenue School in Wednesfield, before going on to March Avenue Secondary Modern.
After school, Alan, who was a regular Wolves season ticket holder, went into the family business, well known Wolverhampton ice cream company Leo's Ice Cream.
He had five children, Mark, Tracy, Melanie, James and Richard, as well as six grandchildren.
He eventually took over the family business in 2002 along with his cousin David, who will now take over full time.
Mr Leo also served as a magistrate at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court for 10 years before retiring last year due to ill health.
He had a short battle with liver cancer before passing away at Compton Hospice on May 6.
Brother Geoff, 64, said: "Alan was a loving, caring man, who was so proud of all of his children and grand children.
"He also loved sport, especially football and the Wolves.
"He even brought his early-bird season ticket for the upcoming season when the doctors told him that he had months to live.
"He will be sadly missed but right now we are celebrating his life.
"I would like to thank Compton Hospice for the excellent care they provided, he was so happy to spend his final days there."
Mr Leo's funeral will be held at St Peter's Church in Wolverhampton at 11am on May 25.
