Louis Johnson, from Tettenhall Wood, has hit the £10,000 fundraising mark for Birmingham Children's Hospital

Louis Johnson, aged 13 from Tettenhall Wood, has now raised more than £10,000 for the charity in his latest fundraiser.

He had been due to walk from Tettenhall to the hospital in aid of Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity on April 11 but was forced to cancel the walk due to coronavirus.

However, the Smestow School pupil is hoping to do the walk in August instead where some of his supporters are also hoping to join him.

His mother, Teresa, said: "He's done raffles, tombolas and lots of walks, he just wants to do it to help all of the children at the hospital.

"It's amazing that he has raised more than £10,000 for the hospital, he didn't think he would be able to because of lockdown but thanks to the raffles and people donating he has done it.

"He doesn't have a goal target in mind, just as much as he can and every penny counts.

"Recently I got an email saying he has been nominated for the Positive Role Model (Age) award at the National Diversity Awards.

"Louis wants to say thank you to everybody for supporting him and hopefully he can do the walk in August."

In April last year, Louis was named as one of Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity’s Hundred Heroes – in recognition for raising more than £6,000 for the charity.

In December, he was named on of the charity’s ambassadors. Louis has now raised more than £27,000 in total for a number of different charities.
