Bosses at The Railway Club in Bushbury, Wolverhampton, forked out to host the Hawaiian-themed event for Year 6 pupils at nearby Northwood Park Primary.

They hope it will encourage the next generation to visit the club more regularly.

Donna Pottoe, committee member at The Railway Club, said: "The night was absolutely fantastic. There were more than 50 youngsters here and they really enjoyed themselves.

"Pubs and clubs are a dying thing now and we are just trying to get the community back together again."

Pupils were asked to pay £5 to attend the prom, which covered the cost of food, with other costs covered by the club.

Balloons and sweets were donated and a DJ was provided.

Donna, added: "It was a parent who initiated the whole thing whose youngest child was leaving the school.

"She had been to different places asking if they could use the venue and they were saying 'it will cost this it will cost that.'

"So I got in touch with her and said what we could do here at the club.

"I went back to the committee here and they said they would do it."
