Five in hospital after car flips on roof in Bushbury

Five people had to be taken to hospital following a crash which saw a car end up on its roof.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the two-car crash at 6.42pm on Tuesday.

The crash took place at the junction of Second Avenue with Fourth Avenue in the Low Hill area of Bushbury, Wolverhampton.

A man is his 40s was the driver of the car that ended up on its roof. He managed to free himself from his vehicle. All the other patients also freed themselves from their cars. He complained of chest pain, head pain and had cuts to his hand. He was taken to New Cross Hospital.

The other driver was a man in his 20s. He had back pain and was given pain relief, immobilised and taken to the Hospital.

The ambulance service received 10 calls from members of the public about the crash. They sent a total of four ambulances to the scene and a rapid response paramedic. Three of the ambulances came from Willenhall while a fourth came from Tollgate.

A man in his 20s was a rear seat passenger in one of the cars. He had chest pain and leg pain. He was given pain relief and taken to the Hospital.

A woman in her 20s was also a rear seat passenger. She had pains in her abdomen following the crash and was also taken to Hospital.

A man in his 50s was also involved in the crash. He had chest and leg pain and was immobilised and taken to hospital.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called to reports of a road traffic collision at 6.42pm at the junction of Second Avenue and Fourth Avenue in the Bushbury area.

“No one was trapped in their vehicles when we arrived.

“There were five patients, all taken to New Cross Hospital for further treatment.”
