Road closed in both directions after lorry hits bridge near Bilston
A major section of road was left closed for several hours in both directions after a lorry hit a bridge.
The Great Bridge Road near Bilston was closed off by police and emergency services after, according to eyewitnesses, the top of the lorry, which was a skip wagon and was carrying a skip, hit the bridge and fell over on its side.
This happened around 11.50am and left the road blocked in both directions underneath the bridge, which is part of the Midlands Metro network, for several hours.
West Midlands Police cordoned off the road at both sides of the bridge, while specialist lorries were brought in to right the stricken lorry and transport both it and the skip to a safe location.
