Father calls for action as flash flooding submerges his Wolverhampton home and leaves cars and gardens underwater
A father is calling for action after flash flooding saw three feet of water sweep into his home and left cars and gardens submerged underwater.
Brett Holden, who lives with his partner and three children in Birmingham New Road, Bilston, said their property started to fill with water during the heavy downpours last Monday.
The 41-year-old said it was the second time he had been affected by flooding in the past 14 months, but it was much worse this time as his hallway was left under three feet of water.
"It got through my porch and into my hallway – there was three feet of water," he said.
"It's gone under the floorboards so all you can smell is damp.
"I'm going to pay out my own pocket because it will make it harder to get insurance again if I claim.
"It's probably going to cost £1,500 to £2,000 to put it right, maybe more."
He said the most recent flash flooding had also left a car submerged underwater, while a fridge and bins were seen floating off a neighbour's driveway.
