Teenager arrested after gang seen with knives in Bilston
A teenager has been arrested after an armed gang were seen gathering in Bilston and a knife was dumped in a nearby garden.
Police were called to Princess Anne Road, in Wolverhampton, on Sunday evening, following reports of a group of people armed with knives.
When officers arrived, a teenager was seen to throw a knife into a nearby garden.
Following a short foot chase, a 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article. He has since been released while enquiries continue.
The knife was later recovered.
A spokesman from West Midlands Police said: "We were called to Princess Anne Road, Wolverhampton, at 7.30pm Sunday following a report of a small group of people armed with knives.
"Officers arrived and a teenager was seen throwing a knife into a nearby garden.
"The knife was recovered and following a short foot chase a 15-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article.
"He has been released while enquiries continue.
"Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information can contact us."
Sharing a photo of the knife on Twitter, Bilston Police added: "Officers responded to a 999 call in Bilston to a male in the street with a knife.
"Dog officer arrives and is confronted by male with knife who ran off and dropped knife in a garden. Male detained and is in custody to be dealt with."
