Bilston crash: Two women taken to hospital after car hits tree
Two women have been taken to hospital after a "serious" crash as a car hit a tree.
A woman in her 70s, who was the driver, had to be cut free from the car after suffering "a medical incident at the wheel."
The crash took place at around 3.45pm along Oxford Street, Bilston, close to the Million Dollar Club on Thursday.
A total of three ambulances and a paramedic support officer were sent to the scene.
Firefighters from West Midlands Fire Service also attended and used cutting apparatus to free the driver.
The woman suffered leg and pelvic injuries in the crash.
She was treated by ambulance staff and taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.
A woman in her 20s who was the passenger in the car was able to free herself from the vehicle but suffered arm injuries. She was taken to New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton.
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 3.44pm to Oxford Street, Bilston to an RTC of a car that had collided with a tree.
"The driver of the car was a woman in her 70s who had had a medical incident at the wheel."
Police closed the road in both directions between Loxdale Street and Great Bridge Road while bus services were diverted.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “We were called at 3.46pm to reports of a car colliding with a tree on Oxford Street, Bilston.
“The road is still closed near to the Million Dollar Club whilst officers deal with the collision.”
Oxford Street was reopened after around 7pm.
Tweeting about the incident, @WVWSResponse said: "Officers dealt with a serious RTC on the Bilston Road, which closed the road. The driver is recovering from injures."
@LowHillWMP said: "Officers from the team have assisted with a road traffic collision on Oxford Street Bilston this evening. No one seriously injured."
