Development plans submitted to South Staffordshire Council this week would see the former bank on the corner of Gravel Hill and High Street in Wombourne converted into a food and drink business.
The building has sat empty since it was decomissioned by Barclays in 2023 having functioned as a bank in the village since 1968, but the proposal by applicants Bradley Holdings would see the "prominent" former branch of Barclays become a restaurant with a separate bar area and takeaway, according to documents submitted with the scheme.
If the plans are approved by council planners, a total of 30 solar panels will also be placed on the roof of the building, which the applicant says will aid both the longevity and carbon footprint of the building.
"The proposal is for the restaurant, bar and takeaway to operate independently," said a design statement submitted with the proposals.
