Wolverhampton supermarket's shop front can stay, say planners
A supermarket has been told it will be allowed to retain a shop front installed without planning permission.
The Premier Convenience Store in Harrowby Road, Fordhouses, Wolverhampton, has been granted retrospective planning permission for a new double-glazed frontage with an electric sliding door.
Senior planning officer Andrew Johnson gave permission to owner Harinderdip Kaur to retain the new frontage at the business, previously known as Pauls Supermarket.
A statement issued by an agent acting on behalf of Mrs Kaur had said: "The proposed development is to remove the existing shop entrance door and side screens and reinstall new aluminium double glazed auto sliding door and side screens, all finished in polyester powder coated finish.
"At the present there is an existing layby in Harrowby Road to the frontage of all the shop units for car parking."
The application said there would be no changes to the boundaries of the property.
"The development is located with a local housing community with access to on the local public transport links to the local and main shopping areas such as Wolverhampton town centre, and railway and bus stations," the application said.
