Wolverhampton's regeneration chief to leave his post for neighbouring authority

The council's director of city development, Richard Lawrence, will leave the council after more than six years to take up a senior role at Birmingham City Council.
Since joining Wolverhampton Council in 2018, Mr Lawrence has overseen a number of major regeneration schemes, including the successful refurbishment of the Civic and Wulfrun Halls, the Bilston urban village, and the i54 enterprise park at Pendeford.
He was also involved with the development of the new railway station in the city centre, and the i9 office complex.
His to take up the role of executive director of places, prosperity and sustainability at Birmingham City Council.
Mr Lawrence said it had been a privilege to work for Wolverhampton Council.
"We have achieved so much together and enjoyed some real highlights," he said.
"I leave knowing there’s been some great successes in Wolverhampton with a talented team driving the agenda forward."
Tim Johnson, chief executive of Wolverhampton Council, said: “We wish Richard all the best in his new role.
"An integral part of our strategic executive board, he has been influential in helping bring our plans for Wolverhampton to fruition and we look forward to building on his excellent work in the months and years ahead.”
A spokesman for the council said interim arrangements for the director of city development role were being established pending a future review of the role.
