Staff and customers from The Leaping Wolf, a pub on Waterloo Road, got together on Thursday armed with litter pickers, bin bags and winter coats picking up everything from crisp packets to beer cans in an effort to make the local area look more presentable to visitors and safer for children.

When the initial idea came to them, pub owners Daniel Morris, 32, and Nathan Davies, 26, contacted Wolverhampton Council to see if they could help - which decided to give the happy helpers sets of litter-picking gear to get the job done.

The crew of 25 split up into two groups and patrolled the streets and local parks, filling up 15 big bags of litter before calling it day, and hope that the work will make the local area look more attractive to guests, while also aiding local business by making going to shops a more pleasing time for the eyes.

Daniel said: "We split up into two groups, about 25 of us came together as well as Wolverhampton Council.
