Wolverhampton has been hit with a second power cut today, following three others elsewhere in the region including Dudley and Walsall.

The latest one was reported at 15.32pm, which has knocked power out for 185 properties in the following postcodes: WV11 2HB, WV11 2HD, WV11 2HE, WV11 2HH, WV11 2HJ, WV11 2HL, WV11 2HQ, WV11 2JP, WV11 2JR and WV11 2LL.

According to the National Grid's live maps, the incident was caused by a suspected blown fuse, and residents could be waiting until 7.30pm before they're able to stick the kettle on again.

As well as that, an earlier reported power cut in Walsall has had its resolution time extended to 10pm, meaning residents will have been without power for almost 12 hours.

The latest updates follow cuts that had happened earlier today.

A new one was reported at 9.46am, and has affected 56 properties in Dudley, caused by a suspected blown fuse in the area.

At 10am engineers were reportedly 'on their way' and National Grid estimated supplies would be restored by 2pm today (January 5).

A spokesperson said: "We are aware of this power cut outage which was raised at 9.46am this morning and our engineers are working to get the power returned as quickly as possible. We are sorry for any inconvenience this is causing you."

Less than an hour later, at 10.36am, Walsall was hit with its second power cut of the morning as 72 properties in the WS2 postcode area lost power due to a suspected blown fuse.

The firm expected the issue to be resolved by 2.30pm today, but that has now been extended to 10pm.

A spokesperson for National Grid said: "There is a suspected blown fuse on our network in your local area. We are currently investigating the cause and are working hard to resolve the issue.

"Our engineers are working to get the power returned as quickly as possible. We are sorry for any inconvenience this is causing you."

They follow earlier power cuts this morning, one reported at 5.12am and a second at 8.30am.

The earlier power cut - in Wolverhampton - is affecting the WV11 2SE, WV11 1SF and WV11 1SG postcodes, and an initial 107 properties were affected. By 11.20am a further two properties were off-supply.

The issue was caused by a fault in the firm's underground network and was resolved by 5pm.

A spokesperson for National Grid said: "We are aware of this power cut outage which was raised at 5.12am this morning and our engineers are working to get the power returned as quickly as possible. We are sorry for any inconvenience this is causing you."

The second power cut happened in Walsall and the firm had to isolate supplies to the local area.

Thankfully, all 34 properties affected by that cut have now been restored.

A spokesperson for National Grid said: "The incident was raised at 8.31am this morning affecting 34 properties. We successfully restored all supplies in the area by 9.16am this morning.

"We are sorry for any inconvenience that was caused by the power cut."

The Black Country is covered by a yellow weather warning for snow and ice for the rest of today. The Met Office has warned that disruption to travel is expected with delays and some road closures likely, and there is also a chance power cuts will occur.
