Students at Wolverhampton College who are considering doing a degree are to benefit from the partnership with Coventry University.
The university's Phoenix Partnership works with students to demystify degrees and explain the institution's application process.
Students eligible for the scheme will find out about the university's admissions policy and how to submit their application through the UCAS system, as well as benefitting from a one A-level grade (or equivalent) reduction in entry requirements when applying for a degree starting in September 2024.
Under the scheme, 41 students from the college have applied to the university for September and will also benefit from free return coach travel to open days, discovery days and subject taster sessions, as well as advice on choosing accommodation and applying for funding to help with tuition fees and living costs.
Louise Fall, deputy principal at the college, said: "Going to university can seem daunting for students and through this scheme we are able to address any concerns they may have and provide support to encourage them to aim high and apply to study at university as the next step towards their future career.”
Danny North, regional student recruitment specialist at the university said; "I am delighted to welcome City of Wolverhampton College on board as a valued Coventry University Phoenix Partner and am looking forward to a long-standing working relationship.
"As part of the partnership, students from the college have visited the university and, afterwards, their tutors could see the positive impact it had had on them."
To mark the collaboration, the college was presented with a partnership plaque which will be displayed at its Wellington Road campus, in Bilston.
