Moonstone Day Care, on Warwick Street, announced it will close its doors at 6pm on Thursday, ending over seven years of service.

Parents were left outraged after the centre announced its closure, with many being left to find new last-minute nurseries for their little ones, and asking what is happening to the money they have already paid.

In a message sent to parents on, the daycare centre announced the closure, saying it regretted the decision to close.

The message reads: "Dear parents and guardians. We hope this message finds you well. We understand the vital role that our nursery has played in the lives of your children and family, and it is with a heavy heart that we share some important news with you.

"After careful consideration, we regret to inform you that Moonstone Day Care Nursery and Club will be closing its doors permanently as of Thursday, 7th September 2023. We will be open as usual, and our doors will close at 6pm.

"This decision was not made lightly and has been a result of several unexpected factors that we have to consider. This has been a shock for me and the team so please forgive us if we are emotional tomorrow as you see us."

The Wolverhampton location is one of three nurseries under the Moonstone name to close, with the others being on Ridpool Road, Kitts Green, and High Street, Erdington.

The message continued: "As we navigate this transition, we are committed to assisting you in any way we can.

"We will be contacting local nurseries first thing in the morning to ascertain where there are vacancies and if they will forego payments for September."

The closure has meant that many parents will have to find alternative daycare options for their children and that they potentially won't see a refund on the money already paid.

Father-of-two, Jak Wilson, 32, of Wolverhampton, said: "I just think that the way that this has all been done is so unprofessional. The way they operate is we pay a month in advance – they chased everyone up only a few days prior to closing and dropped the message, we only had around 48 hours' notice.
