Marvin Walker was caught red-handed by police in Exeter as he used a hotel next to the main train station as a base for selling heroin and crack on behalf of a Midlands-based gang in 2018.

Officers found his girlfriend waiting for him in his room at the Great Western Hotel, where he also had a stash of drugs.

He denied drug dealing and claimed he was acting under duress and Covid delays meant that his trial did not take place until November 2021. He did a runner the week before it was due to start and remained at large until June this year.

He was found guilty in his absence and was finally sent to jail last week. It emerged during the hearing at Exeter Crown Court that police had not traced him even though he worked under his own name through an agency for Amazon and the delivery firm DX.
