Police have been carrying out investigations in a street on the outskirts of Wolverhampton after residents reported hearing 'loud bangs' and seeing a Land Rover on fire in the early hours.

An area of Codsall Road has been cordoned off by police and several officers were spotted at the scene this morning.

Windows in one property in the street have been smashed and the damaged Land Rover can also be seen near to the police cordon.

Neighbours reported seeing a plume of smoke

The exact details of the incident are not yet known, but West Midlands Ambulance Service said it received a call at about 12.30am.

A spokesman for the service said an ambulance and paramedic officer were sent to the scene, but were stood down by police shortly after arriving as they were no longer required.
