Trams still disrupted in Wolverhampton several hours later due to overhead line damage
Trams are unlikely to run today between Wolverhampton St Georges and Wednesbury Parkway after overhead line damage early on Friday.
Connections from Wolverhampton to Wednesbury and back have been severely restricted all day, with commuters and other passengers seeing disruption since the start of morning service.
The problem is believed to be with the gas tensioners used to keep the overhead lines tight, falling onto the track.
Trams are still running between Wednesbury Parkway and Edgbaston Village only. Metro tickets are being accepted on Travel West Midlands service 79 and the trains.
A spokesman for West Midlands Metro said services were unlikely to resume today but for the public to check www.westmidlandsmetro.com or @WMmetro for updates.
