It has only been open for six weeks – but concerns have been raised over part of a newly pedestrianised Wolverhampton street where "everyone seems to be falling down".

The 'half a kerb' on Victoria Street in Wolverhampton has been branded a 'trip hazard'.

A kerb on Victoria Street has been the subject of several complaints, according to Wolverhampton Council, with city councillors among those to have lost their footing.

It was introduced as part of the £15.7m scheme and is aimed at helping blind people with tapping sticks navigate the road. But is appears to have done more harm than good.

Bosses have conceded the kerb, which runs through the centre of the street, is a "trip hazard", but said there were no plans to make any changes to it.

Victoria Street reopened in May following a controversial roadworks scheme that sparked protests among businesses, who say trade slumped during the 17 months it took to complete.
