Perry, aged 10, was rescued by Kats Cradle at the Four Ashes Industrial Site in Wolverhampton alongside another cat and some kittens.

The tomcat – who was squinting quite badly and struggling to see – received some treatment to soothe the swelling of his eyes by experts.

But he was later diagnosed with Entropion in both eyes, a "extremely painful" condition where the eyelid is turned inwards against the eyeball.

Now the cat rescue, based in Coven, is hoping to raise the £700 needed for the operation and has called on members of the public to donate.

Debbie Brookes-Hemans, who owns and runs the cat rescue, said: "He was squinting quite badly and it was obvious there was something wrong straight away.

"Entropion is a condition where his eyelids turn inwards, so his eyelashes are rubbing on his eye balls and it's extremely painful. It's in both of his eyes too, not just one.

"We want to get the operation done as soon as possible. It's a condition he's lived with all of his life and it's an uncomfortable condition.

"We want him to have a good quality of life and it's going to cost around £700 – so that's why we're asking people to help."

Perry, who was named by the cat rescue, is currently being looked after in the Kats Cradles' cattery based near Albrighton as he awaits treatment.

People wishing to donate can contact the Kats Cradle on Facebook, with donations accepted through a bank transfer or through PayPal.
