Wolverhampton's Compton Care launched its annual lottery super draw as part of their festive campaign to help raise vital funds.

It comes after the charity revealed it had lost around £2.4 million in revenue – with events cancelled – as a result of the pandemic.

Lottery manager Marie Von Wurzbach said: "For just £1, our supporters can enter our Christmas super draw and be in with the chance of winning £3,000 as well as host of other great prizes.

"The response has been so fantastic so far and I’d like to thank everyone for their incredible support.

"This year has been unprecedented and difficult for us all but by supporting Compton’s Christmas super draw, you will be helping us to ensure this is a Christmas like no other for our patients and their loved ones and enable us to continue to offer our vital care services to people free of charge across Wolverhampton and the Black Country."

Priceless

The charity needs to raise £9.1 million each year to fund its services – with its expected earnings slumping as a result of virus restrictions.

Surinder Sheemar, whose brother Silas was cared for at Compton Care, urged people to dig deep and donate to the "priceless" service.

He said: "I remember that sandwiches were made for all of the family, we were given care and support too.

"The care Compton gives is priceless, and for families is something money can't buy.

"The nurses were absolutely brilliant - so caring, and when Silas was able to, settled him into a chair where he would chat and make us laugh, sharing his happy memories from when we were little."

The winning tickets will be drawn on December 18. To purchase tickets, call 0300 323 0250 or for more information visit comptoncare.org.uk
