Flats plan for former Wolverhampton medical centre
A busy former doctors’ surgery which was forced to close down could be converted into residential flats, under new plans submitted to the city council.
Wolverhampton property developer Pavandeep Singh has applied to the city council for permission to turn the now vacant Goldthorn Medical Centre in Blakenhall into three one-bedroom flats.
The Park Street South practice closed in 2016, with patients being referred to Bilston Medical Centre.
A spokesman for Wolverhampton Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG) said: “The Goldthorn Medical Centre building closed in 2016.
“The practice patients were seen on two sites at the time, one at Goldthorn Medical Centre and one site at Bilston Medical Centre.
“The patients at the practice continued to be seen at Bilston Medical Centre until the resident GPs retired and the practice was transferred under the care of Dr Ahmed and Dr Rai, still at the Bilston Medical Centre location.”
Wolverhampton Council’s planning bosses will discuss the application in the near future.
