Homes proposal for former office building
A former office building in the heart of Wolverhampton city centre is to be transformed into eight new luxury apartments, under plans submitted to the council this week.
Emery House, previously the headquarters of employment training agency PTP (Performance Through People), will be redeveloped to provide residential accommodation over two floors, under the new proposals.
If granted approval by the council, the premises will become the latest in a series of empty former office buildings in the city to be earmarked for living space.
Similar applications have recently been submitted for Regents Court in St John’s Square and Rock House in Tettenhall.
In written correspondence accompanying the application, Jason Asbury of agents Pharaoh Designs, based in Kingswinford, said: “The site has a rear car park with nine marked out parking spaces and these will be retained. The basement will be used for storage.
“There doesn’t appear to be any contamination risks on the site, which is located in Flood Zone 1 – an area with a low probability of flooding. A Flood Risk Assessment (FRA) has also been submitted with the application.”
The building is located within the Wolverhampton City Centre Conservation Area. Council planners are yet to make a decision on the application.
