Police urge organisers of Wolverhampton protest to contact them
Police are urging the organisers of a planned protest in Wolverhampton this weekend to contact them.
West Midlands Police officers say they are aware of the planned protest that is due to take place in Wolverhampton on Saturday.
A spokesman for the force said: "So far we have not had any contact from the event organiser and we are urging them to make contact with us as soon as possible, so we can ensure the safety of the event is considered and we can give them vital information that they will require and need to know.
"We would also ask event organisers and people attending to familiarise themselves with the latest government guidance regarding protests during national lockdown.
"Coronavirus remains a deadly disease and there are national lockdown restrictions in place to prevent its spread. We continue to encourage people to comply with the regulations to keep everyone as safe as possible.
"We will put in place proportionate policing plans for protests working with communities and those taking part wherever possible."
The event organisers are being urged to call West Midlands Police on 101.
