Fire crews battle loft blaze in Wolverhampton

More than a dozen firefighters were called to a fire above a flat in Wolverhampton.

Three crews were sent to the scene in Mostyn Street at 11.25pm on Friday.

The fire was contained to the loft space above a first-floor flat which is above a commercial premises, but smoke and water damage affected the property below.

Paramedics and police were called but all occupants were accounted for.

Staffordshire and West Midland Fire Control Room tweeted saying: "Crews from Wolverhampton and Fallings Park attended a property in Mostyn Street Wolverhampton within five minutes and requested a further appliance from Bilston and a hydraulic platform from Walsall.

"This fire is now under control and investigation into the cause is taking place."

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
