Pensioner suffers serious injuries as car hits bollards and overturns in Wolverhampton
A pensioner was rushed to hospital with multiple injuries after his car flipped in Wolverhampton.
An air ambulance, land ambulance and police officers were sent to the junction of Codsall Road and Windermere Road at about 10.30am today.
They found the driver, a man in his 80s, was out of the car and being helped by bystanders.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “When ambulance staff arrived, they found a man, the driver, who was out of the car and being cared for by bystanders and a nurse.
"The man had sustained multiple injuries and received trauma care by ambulance staff before being taken by land ambulance on blue lights to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.”
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We are investigating after a car hit bollards at the junction of Codsall Road and Windermere Road in Wolverhampton at just after 10.30am today.
"A man in his 80s has been taken to hospital with a serious head injury. No other vehicle is believed to be involved.
"Codsall Road and Windermere Road have been shut as investigations continue.
