Man and woman in court over murder of father in Wolverhampton flat

A man and woman have appeared in court charged with murdering a father who was found beaten to death in a flat.

Simon Wilkins, 27, and Jodie Rafferty, 33, appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Thursday afternoon.

The victim, 39-year-old Artura Busma was found in a flat on Tettenhall Road, in Wolverhampton, on April 23.

A post-mortem examination revealed he suffered significant blunt force trauma to his head and body.

Wilkins and Rafferty, who appeared via video-link, spoke only to confirm their names, date of birth and addresses at the hearing on Thursday.

Neither Wilkins or Rafferty, from different addresses on Tettenhall Road, in Wolverhampton, entered a plea during the hearing.

A provisional trial date has been set for October 26, the court was told.

At the hearing on Thursday, Judge Michael Chambers QC adjourned the hearing until September 7 when both defendants are expected to make a plea. He remanded them in custody until the next hearing.
