New performance area for nursery school in Wolverhampton approved
A nursery school in has been given the go-ahead to create a new "learning performance area" – which it also intends to make available to the local community.
Eastfield Nursery School in Griffin Street, Wolverhampton, has been granted permission to add a rear extension to its site with the intention of using it as a parent and community hub.
The school, which has been rated as outstanding by Ofsted at its last three inspections, provides early education for children aged three to four years old.
A report from Ian Palmer Architects, accompanying the school’s planning application, said the development would "create a flexible space connected to the existing building" and would result in “a blended learning environment for all"..
It added that the school would use use the area for performances, as a parent meeting space and also for community activities.
Plans said the area would be able to cater for a minimum of 13 staff and 26 two to three-year-old children, with additional toilets also being included in the extension.
Head teacher Emma Smith, who made the application, said the school was passionate about providing high quality early education to give children a strong foundation for future learning.
