MP Jane Stevenson delivers food parcels to vulnerable across Wolverhampton
A Wolverhampton MP has delivered food parcels to vulnerable people across the city in a bid to help the most in need.
Jane Stevenson teamed up with Wolverhampton Council's emergency food distribution hub to help send out the items.
She has delivered several packages to people living in Low Hill, Heath Town, Pendeford and Bushbury.
The Wolverhampton North East MP said: "It is a privilege to be helping deliver food parcels to some of my most vulnerable constituents, making sure that they have the basic supplies and food they need during this difficult time.
More Covid-19 coverage:
"I'll keep doing this every week for as long as the pandemic continues.
"I’ve met some fantastic people who have really appreciated the support that is being offered, and it’s been lovely to chat to people who need to stay indoors."
Ms Stevenson also praised Government chiefs for handing out funding – around £3.2 billion – to councils across the country.
She added: "The financial support from Government to local authorities, who are on the frontline responding to this crisis, is extremely welcome and has made a huge difference in terms of enabling not just the distribution of food parcels, but also council tax relief for struggling families."
