The pensioner, a man in his 70s, had suffered a medical episode and was in danger of colliding with vehicles in the Merridale area of Wolverhampton.

Two men, believed to be in their late teens or early 20s, rushed to his aid and brought him to a safe stop off the road.

PC Kelly Fellows-Hale, from Wolverhampton Police, was travelling through the area at the time – and the former Royal Air Force medic offered immediate care to the man.

She put the man in the recovery position and he was conscious again before he was taken to hospital. Fortunately, the man had not suffered a stroke as previously feared.

The family of the man have thanked PC Fellows-Hale and the two young men for their help.
