Medical equipment plea by Wolverhampton Council leader

An urgent appeal for protective equipment has been launched by Wolverhampton Council's leader – with the city running out due to coronavirus.

Councillor Ian Brookfield said the city "desperately" needed help with stocks already running low and urged people and businesses to help.

The leader said: "We would be hugely grateful if people could reach out to any businesses they have connections with, who may have stocks that are not required at this time, to ask whether they'd be willing to come to an arrangement where we could access their stock.

"Without it we will have difficulty providing meals and support for more than 33,000 residents, our waste operatives and others that are working for our people are also in desperate need."

Wolverhampton Council needs fluid-resistant surgical masks, FFP3 face masks, plastic aprons, fluid-resistant long-sleeved gowns, handgel containing alcohol, nitrile non-sterlie gloves and visitors – or protective goggles.
