M6 gridlock after person spotted walking between Black Country junctions

Motorists were stuck in more than eight miles of tailbacks after a pedestrian was spotted on the M6 in the Black Country.

Highways officials told drivers to avoid the motorway after the person was seen walking between Junction 9 for Wednesbury and Junction 10 for Walsall at the Black Country Route.

West Midlands Police were called to help find the person at around 7.50am today.

The M6 was brought to a standstill while police attempt to make the area safe.

Officers managed to deal with the pedestrian and the M6 was reopened by around 9.15am

But there were warnings of lasting delays during the morning.
