Properties snapped up at first auction of the year
Properties of all shapes and sizes across the Black Country were snapped up by bidders during firm's first auction of the year.
The first lot at SDL Auctions Bigwood’s auction, held at Villa Park, was 9 Colman Avenue, in Wolverhampton.
The family house required modernisation but sold for £73,000, up from a guide price of £30,000.
The semi-detached property has two reception rooms, three bedrooms, car standing and an enclosed rear garden.
Auctioneer Rory Daly said: “This was an excellent property to get our first Birmingham auction of the year off to a lively start.
"The buyer has picked up a great investment, with the opportunity to add value by making the necessary improvements.”
Another stand-out sale was 75 Tudor Street, in Tipton, is a three bedroomed semi-detached property with a large through lounge with bay window at the front and door into the garden at the rear.
Within walking distance of Dudley Port train station, it sold for £105,000, from a guide price of £59,000.
Due to the popularity of bungalows, auctioneers expected 2 Greenly Road, Wolverhampton, to attract a great deal of attention from bidders and were not disappointed when it sold for £96,000, from a guide price of £50,000.
The semi-detached dormer bungalow has a hallway, lounge, dining room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor, with an additional bedroom upstairs.
Mr Daly said: “This was an excellent purchase as bungalows are always popular, both with homeowners and tenants.
"As our population is getting older, one-level living makes a lot of sense and will always be a good investment.”
A commercial lot was 61 Great Bridge, in Tipton, a mid-terraced three-storey building previously used by a florist.
The vacant unit features a retail area plus kitchen area on the ground floor, with two double rooms and a storage cupboard on the first floor and a further room and storage on the second floor. It sold for £137,000 from a guide price of £85,000.
SDL Auctions Bigwood returns to Villa Park on March 25. Entries are now being invited for the auction.
