Project GIVEmas coming to city venue
A touch of Disney will form the theme of a fundraising Christmas fair in the heart of Wolverhampton.
Project GIVE, who work to remove the stigma of periods within the city of Wolverhampton through working with partners and educating young people on the subject, is holding its annual Project GiveMAS event at the Lighthouse Cinema and Bar on Saturday, December 7.
The event at the Lighthouse will have over 25 stalls, including organisations such as Kulchalee arts, Dread Wolf Designs and BearSpoke Events, as well as a raffle, tombola and refreshments.
In addition, entertainment will be provided by Gorgeous FM, as well as a host of local artists and singers, plus a school choir.
The event is all in aid of raising funds for Project GIVE, in particular, towards their trip to Gambia in February 2020.
Kelly said: "We just want to make it an event for the whole family and, hopefully, raise more funds for our trip to Gambia.
"Our total for Gambia was £3,000. That's our target and we hope to smash it following this event."
The event has a different theme every year, with Project GIVE founders Kelly Walker-Reed and Lucy Palin and volunteers at the event dressing up.
This year, the event will tie-in with the release at the Lighthouse Cinema of Frozen 2 and will see Kelly and Lucy dressed as Olaf from the film, alongside volunteers dressed as Anna and Elsa.
Kelly spoke about the relationship with the Lighthouse and how it helped the event.
She said: "It's been a brilliant relationship with the Lighthouse. They've been really supportive of Project Give and have been from the start, so we're really thrilled that they were able to book us in for December 7.
"It's an absolute privilege to hold this event at the Lighthouse and to be given the best venue, in our opinion, in the city."
Project GIVEmas 2019 takes place on Saturday, December 7 at the Lighthouse Cinema and Bar, Fryer Street, Wolverhampton, starting at 12pm.
