Hi-de-Hi! star Su Pollard to switch on Wolverhampton's Christmas lights

Star of Hi-de-Hi! Su Pollard will return to Wolverhampton later this month ahead of the Grand Theatre pantomime to switch on the city's Christmas lights.

Su Pollard will switch on Wolverhampton's Christmas lights ahead of her appearance in the Grand Theatre pantomime

The Wolverhampton city centre switch-on will take place in Queen Square on Saturday, November 23, from 2pm until 8pm.

Su, who is starring as the evil Queen Rat in the Grand Theatre's Dick Whittington pantomime, will be joined by Signal 107's Dicky Dodd, Mayor of Wolverhampton Councillor Claire Darke and Father Christmas to switch on the lights at 5pm.

The fun starts with a free screening of family favourite film The Polar Express on the Signal 107 stage from 2.15pm, Harry Jones' Funfair, a festive market and more.

Father Christmas will be in his Mander Centre Grotto for a special Christmas lights switch-on appearance between 2pm and 6pm. While, there will also be real reindeer in Dudley Street, near Greggs, between 2pm and 6pm.

Wolverhampton city centre is not the only festive celebration, as lights will also be switched on at Bantock House, Wednesfield, Bilston and Tettenhall, with Father Christmas and the Mayor doing the honours.

Bantock House's event will take place on Sunday, November 24, between 4pm and 7.30pm; followed by Wednesfield High Street on November 28 between 4pm and 7.30pm; Bilston's Church Street on November 29 between 5pm and 8pm; and Tettenhall's Upper Green on November 30 between 4pm and 7.30pm. All the lights will be switched on at 6.30pm.
