Boy, 16, arrested after Wolverhampton knife scare

A teenager has been arrested after someone was spotted with a knife in Wolverhampton city centre.

Police were called by concerned members of the public after they spotted someone carrying a knife in Wulfruna Street just after 1.30pm today.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested soon after in Queen Street on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and cannabis.

Onlookers witnessed a heavy police presence outside Nandos in Queen Street before the boy was apprehended by officers.

He was remanded in custody for questioning.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Police were called to reports of someone being seen with a knife in Wulfruna Street, Wolverhampton city centre.

"A 16-year-old boy was arrested soon after in nearby Queen Street on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and cannabis. He has been taken into police custody for questioning."
