Hail to the Ale Micropub, in Claregate, has been presented with a certificate for the latest award – on the same weekend as its cider and cheese festival.

Owner Angela Morton said hundreds of people came to the festival over the Bank Holiday weekend.

She said: “It was amazing, absolutely fantastic to be given the award again.

“CAMRA look at categories within the pub such as the ambiance, beer quality, the decor and community spirit.

“We are a big part of the community and people have made good friends meeting here.”

Angela added: “The festival was great, we even ran out of cheese.

“It was a lovely day, people sitting outside in the garden, everybody was having a great time.

“We had some special ciders on and the went really really well.

“We have lots of festivals throughout the year such as a pork pie festival.

“We’ve been open six years but we did the cider and cheese festival at Coven Memorial Hall in the past as we had the brewery for 12 years before that.

“We have a what’s on board in the pub so people can come in and see what events we have, it’s updated every couple of months.”

Keg and Comfort on the Stafford Road has won Cider Pub of the Year 2019 in its first year of opening and will be presented with its award next month.
