The family-owned SS Sidhu's shop in Ettingshall, on Steelhouse Lane, will boast the Post Office shop.

The Post Office section will be open between 6.30am and 10.30pm Monday to Saturday, and between 7.30am to 10.30pm on Sunday.

Jas Sidhu, whose children Pam and Raj both work in the shop, said: “We decided to open the Post Office here as it’s a well-known, loved brand which allows us to provide services that many local people need and want.

"We’re providing a host of services and so far, parcel collection and sending has been most popular."

Councillor Beverley Momenabadi, who represents Ettingshall, described it as a "much-needed service" for residents.

She said: “As both a councillor and resident in Ettingshall, I’m thrilled that the shop is expanding its reach to provide a much-needed service for local residents.

"The Sidhu family are well-known for their thorough service and I’m pleased to be supporting this wonderful local business as they grown.”

It comes amid fears two delivering offices are set to close.

Bases in Wombourne and Bilston could face the axe as part of a move to "centralise" staff in Wolverhampton, moving them to the main offices in Sun Street.

Around 50 staff work at the Bilston delivery office, while the Wombourne site is about half the size.

A Royal Mail spokesman said the proposed move would enable bosses to improve the working environment for employees and provide more space to sort mail securely.
