The retailer has hired the new employees to work in departments from clothing, home and food, beauty, deli and the cafe in the Dudley Street store.

Across the UK, the company is seeking 20,000 “moment makers”. Last year almost 2,000 temporary workers were offered a permanent role in January.

All new colleagues will have induction training and employees get a 20 per cent discount on M&S products from their first day.
